Ethics
Last updated 28 December 2025
Career Indaba® Magazine is a digital-first career intelligence publication across industries and sectors. Our Code of Ethics sets out the principles that guide our editorial judgement, reporting, partnerships, and accountability. These standards exist to protect reader trust, editorial independence, and the long-term credibility of the publication.
Truth, Accuracy, and Verification
Career Indaba® Magazine is committed to accuracy and clarity. We verify material facts before publication and take care to ensure information is presented in proper context. We do not fabricate, misrepresent, or plagiarise content. Where analysis or interpretation is offered, it is clearly distinguished from verified fact.
Editorial Independence and Integrity
Editorial independence is fundamental to Career Indaba® Magazine. Editorial decisions are made in the interest of readers and are not influenced by advertisers, sponsors, partners, political interests, or personal considerations. We do not accept inducements, gifts, or incentives in exchange for coverage. Any potential conflicts of interest are disclosed where relevant.
Fairness and Right of Reply
We strive for fairness in how individuals, institutions, and organisations are represented. Where coverage may affect reputation, we seek appropriate comment and ensure that material facts are not selectively presented to mislead. We avoid unnecessary personal attacks, stereotyping, or mischaracterisation.
Accountability and Transparency
Career Indaba® Magazine takes responsibility for its editorial output. We welcome feedback and provide clear channels for corrections, clarifications, and concerns. Significant editorial decisions and corrections are handled transparently and in good faith.
Minimising Harm and Respecting Dignity
We approach storytelling with care, particularly where publication may affect an individual’s safety, dignity, or livelihood. We avoid unnecessary intrusion into private life and consider the potential impact of publication, especially for vulnerable individuals or groups.
Privacy and Lawful Newsgathering
We respect privacy and handle personal data responsibly. Information is gathered lawfully and ethically. We do not use deceptive methods to obtain information except in rare cases where there is a clear public interest and lawful justification.
Sources, Attribution, and Originality
We attribute ideas, quotations, data, and reporting appropriately. Career Indaba® Magazine values original work and does not reproduce material from other publications without proper attribution or permission.
Images, Audio, and Content Integrity
Images, audio, and video are not manipulated in ways that mislead. Editing is limited to standard production practices that preserve meaning and context. Illustrative or generated media is clearly identified where relevant.
